UX Designer - Digital Transformation – GDS – Newcastle/Sheffield

Due to our continued success in the digital arena, we are now looking for an interim UX Designer to join us on one of our digital transformation projects with our public-sector customer. This position will be based in Newcastle or Sheffield.


This is an initial 3-6-month contract opportunity, outside IR35 on an agile government project within the GDS guidelines.  Candidates must be able to start end of November/early December. Beyond being well versed in the full UX lifecycle, it's crucial that you have strong stakeholder management skills as you will be working closely with the client.


UX Designer Responsibilities & Skills


  • Comfortable prototyping in HTML/CSS/JavaScript
  • A strong background in interaction design with a portfolio of successful commercial client projects.
  • Experience leading UX designers/researchers across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience designing interactive experiences, knowledge of industry tools, and a proven understanding of designing IA, user interfaces, and navigation
  • Experience of delivering digital services in accordance with Government Digital Services (GDS) best practice and the design manual
  • Experience reusing government patterns and components
  • Experience of designing customer-centric digital services (e.g. use of personas, user journey mapping etc.)
  • Experience of designing services for users with a wide variety of accessibility needs
